From July 6th to July 7th, 2018, Xun zhou, menber of the School of Economics, with the support of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (71764008), brought Cai Fang, a graduate student of the School of Economics, to Kyoto, Japan to participate in the Inequality and Redistribution Preference academic (closed) workshop and gave a keynote speech. The paper he presented was “Redistribution Preference and Poverty Perception Relationship – Evidence in CGSS”. This paper mainly analyzes the relationship between Chinese residents' redistribution preference and their perceptions about effort/circumstance towards inequality through the micro-data of Chinese General Social Survey, focusing on the analysis of the perception mechanism differences among urban and rural areas, and especially the rural migrants and the mechanisms by which such differences occur. After the paper was read, Conchita D'Ambrosio, editor-in-chief of Review of income and wealth, gave a detailed review of the study as discussant. Later, other participants gave constructive suggestions for the study.
