Associate Professor Qiu Yongzhi Was Elected a Member of the Chinese Society of Economic History

On October 16-17, the International Symposium on Economic History Research and the Eighth Annual Meeting of the Chinese Society for Economic History was held at Lanzhou University, co-sponsored by the Chinese Society for Economic History, the School of History and Culture of Lanzhou University and the editorial department of the Research on Chinese Economic History. The 8th Council and the Permanent Council were elected by the conference, and Associate Professor Qiu Yongzhi was elected as the representative of Outstanding Young Scholars.

​The Chinese Economic History Society (hereinafter referred to as CEHS) is a national academic organization voluntarily formed by Chinese workers in economic history. Its aim is to broadly unite the research and teaching workers in China's economic history, strengthen mutual contacts and academic exchanges, and jointly promote the development of the discipline of economic history. In the early 1980s, economic history workers from 16 units, including the Institute of Economic Research, the Institute of History, the Institute of Modern History, the Institute of World Economics and Politics, Peking University, Renmin University of China, the Central Party School, Beijing Normal University, the Institute of Economic Research under the State Planning Commission, the Institute of Financial Science of the Ministry of Finance, the former Institute of Commercial Economics under the Ministry of Commerce, the Institute of Financial Research under the People's Bank of China, the Chinese Museum of History and the former Hongqi Magazine, initiated the preparation, and were supported and encouraged by the economic history workers of the relevant units throughout the country, and approved by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Ministry of Civil Affairs. In December 1986, the inauguration meeting of the Chinese Society of Economic History was held in Langfang, Hebei Province, with four professional committees, namely, the Professional Committee for Ancient Economic History of China, the Professional Committee for Modern Economic History of China , the Professional Committee for Modern Economic History of China and the Professional Committee for Foreign Economic History. On July 21, 2002, the Chinese Society of Economic History joined the International Economic History Association (hereinafter referred to as the IEHA) at the 13th annual meeting of the International Society of Economic History in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and became a member of its association, maintaining close contact with the International Society of Economic History.

Associate Professor Qiu Yongzhi was successfully elected to the Council of China Economic History Society, which has a positive significance to enhance the influence of the subject of economic history.
