Recently, Softech China, an authoritative university rating agency in China, released the 2023 China's best disciplines ranking, and the discipline of theoretical economics of the School of Economics ranked 17th in similar disciplines in China, which is the best result in the last five years, which reflects the fruitful achievements of the construction of the discipline of theoretical economics in the School of Economics and the high social recognition.

It is reported that Softech China Best Disciplines Ranking originates from the dynamic monitoring data system of disciplines' development level that serves the disciplines construction management departments of universities, and it began to calculate the comprehensive ranking of disciplines and release it to the public in 2017. The index system of Softech China's Best Disciplines Ranking includes five index categories: talent cultivation, platform projects, achievement awards, academic papers, and high-end talents, and uses more than 70 quantitative indexes that are closely watched in the management of discipline construction, emphasizing that the possession and contribution of discipline points to the scarce resources and landmark achievements of the discipline are reflected through objective data. The caliber of disciplines used in the Softech China Best Disciplines Ranking is the first-level disciplines in the latest Catalogue of Degree-granting and Talent Cultivation Disciplines by the Ministry of Education (MOE). In each first-level discipline, the ranking is for all universities with academic graduate degree authorization points in that first-level discipline, and is released for the top 50% of the universities ranked in that discipline.
