Faculty of Economics Launches the Eighth Westfield-Sunshine Educational Assistance Program

In order to unite the friendship between students of different nationalities and promote the progress of minority students in their studies, the School of Economics held this minority symposium and the launching ceremony of Western Sunshine Educational Assistance on December 6 at 815 Comprehensive Building of Jiaoqiao North District.

This activity is aimed at solving the learning difficulties of minority students in the college and strengthening the friendship between students of different nationalities. The three teachers who attended this activity were Yuan Cuiping, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Economics, Wu Peiqin, director of the Department of Academic Work of the College of Economics, and Xiel Aili, counselor of the College of Economics.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Xie'er Aili made a speech, followed by the awarding ceremony of the excellent teaching assistants in the past and the launching ceremony of One-to-One Pairing Western Sunshine Teaching Assistants. In the award ceremony, the three teachers commended the excellent party member student teaching assistants selected in the past, and encouraged them to give full play to their exemplary role in helping the minority students to better integrate into the school life and improve their academic performance.

At the launching ceremony of Western Sunshine Teaching Assistant, two students from each ethnic group became pairs and formed a friendship to learn and progress together in the future, and the leaders of the college awarded certificates to each group of students.

At the end of the activity, Ms. Yuan Cuiping summarized the activity and made some expectations, saying that the past minority students of the college had made many excellent achievements and hoped that the students would keep up their efforts. This activity is one of the important initiatives of the school to deepen the education of national unity and progress and to promote the common development of students of all nationalities. The school will continue to pay attention to the needs and development of minority students, and actively take measures to create a better learning and living environment for minority students. At the same time, the school also calls on all teachers and students to participate in the action of caring for minority students and jointly promote the development of the cause of national unity and progress on campus.

Since the activity of Western Sunshine Teaching Assistant was held in 2016, four students have been admitted to graduate school in the past three years, and one student has been employed by Hubei University for Nationalities to become a full-time counselor for ethnic minorities, and there is no case of delayed graduation due to the failure of students to complete their studies. Through the help of the Western Sunshine Teaching Assistant Program, the comprehensive ability of minority students from Xinjiang and Tibet has been comprehensively improved. The success of this symposium for minority students and the launching ceremony of the Sunshine Teaching Assistance Program not only strengthened the communication and exchange between the school and the minority students, but also provided them with strong support and help for their academic progress. We believe that with the joint efforts of the school and the society, the students of the School of Economics will be able to make greater progress and development in their studies.
