Professor Shao Shuai from Tongji University Visits Our School for a Discussion

On March 6, Professor Shao Shuai from Tongji University visited our school at our invitation and held a discussion in Conference Room 815. The discussion was chaired by Professor Wang Shoukun, the school’s administrative director, and was attended by Zhang Liguo, Dean of the Graduate School, as well as Professor Zhou Yingheng and others.

During the meeting, Professor Wang Shoukun, the college’s administrative director, extended a warm welcome to Professor Shao Shuai. He provided a detailed overview of the college’s overall development plan, disciplinary structure, faculty development, and achievements in talent cultivation, expressing hope that this exchange would help the college gain valuable insights for disciplinary upgrading and the cultivation of distinctive research directions.

Drawing on his own academic research and experience in disciplinary development, Professor Shao Shuai offered targeted guidance on the positioning of the School of Economics’ disciplinary development, the cultivation of distinctive features in the resource and environmental discipline, and the development of research teams. He provided an in-depth analysis of the latest academic trends and research directions in the field of resource and environmental economics, sharing his insights and methodologies regarding the refinement of research directions, the application for research grants, and the production of high-quality academic papers. Regarding interdisciplinary integration, Professor Shao Shuai emphasized the need to break down traditional research boundaries and promote the deep integration of economics with fields such as environmental science, management, and data science, using an interdisciplinary perspective to expand research horizons and enhance academic competitiveness.

This symposium injected new momentum into the School of Economics’ efforts to enhance the quality and efficiency of discipline development and the distinctive growth of the Department of Resources and Environment. It effectively broadened the academic horizons and research perspectives of faculty and students, and holds significant importance for the School in strengthening its leading disciplines, cultivating distinctive research directions, and promoting high-quality development in academic innovation and talent cultivation.
