School of Economics Hosts Special Academic Lecture by Russian Scholar To further broaden the international academic horizons of faculty and students, establish a platform for educational and academic exchange between China and other countries, and promote cross-border exchange and cooperation in higher education, the School of Economics invited Dr. Alina Raschupkina from St. Petersburg State University of Economics in Russia to deliver a special academic lecture on the morning of April 23. Faculty members from relevant disciplines actively attended the event, creating a vibrant atmosphere of academic discussion.

Scholar Alina Raschupkina has long been engaged in core research areas such as educational administration, information technology, the knowledge economy, and the digitization of higher education. With a solid academic foundation and extensive practical research experience, she has achieved significant accomplishments in these fields. In this lecture, drawing on her own research expertise and combining the current state of higher education development and teaching practices in both China and Russia, Scholar Alina Raschupkina provided an in-depth analysis of the pathways and directions for cultivating students’ knowledge in different educational contexts. At the same time, she focused on key issues such as the professional development of university faculty and innovation in academic research, systematically sharing mature experiences and cutting-edge academic concepts from the Russian higher education sector, which provided our faculty with fresh academic insights and inspiration for their teaching and research. During the interactive session, our faculty engaged in in-depth discussions on core issues in higher education. Regarding the hot topic of the integration of artificial intelligence and education, both sides exchanged views on the boundaries of AI technology application in higher education, the core pedagogical value of faculty, and the positioning of their educational roles. Addressing the issue of whether the digitization of higher education would exacerbate income inequality and social stratification in the labor market, Dr. Alina Raschupkina drew on Russia’s local practical experience to comprehensively analyze the opportunities and challenges brought by digital education, clarifying the path to balancing educational equity with the coordinated development of digitalization. In addition, the two sides held discussions on the feasibility and cooperative models for joint graduate student training programs, laying a solid foundation for future inter-university collaboration. This special lecture has significantly advanced academic exchange and cooperation between China and Russia in the field of higher education development, playing a positive role in promoting the college’s internationalization and the innovative development of academic research.
