Faculty Members from Our School Attend the China Asset Valuation Forum

On July 20, the China Valuation Forum (2026), organized under the guidance of the National Steering Committee for Professional Degree Graduate Education in Asset Valuation and other institutions, was held at Inner Mongolia University of Finance and Economics. With the theme “Asset Valuation for the 15th Five-Year Plan: Digital and Intelligent Transformation and Strategic Transition,” the forum established an integrated platform for exchange and collaboration among industry, academia, and research institutions, fostering professional consensus to align the development of the asset valuation industry with the broader context of the 15th Five-Year Plan and to advance its strategic transition toward digital and intelligent transformation. Professor Yu Bingwen from our institute attended the forum and delivered a keynote speech.   During the keynote session, Professor Yu Bingwen shared the findings of his research on asset valuation using high-quality datasets. He argued that high-quality datasets constitute data assets characterized by clear ownership, compliance and usability, data completeness and accuracy, standardized annotation, timeliness, balanced sampling, reusability, and high adaptability to specific scenarios. After undergoing data cleansing, de-identification, and quality inspection, these datasets contain minimal noise and missing values, and are fully documented. They can directly support business implementation—such as model training and analytical decision-making—and possess stable, realizable economic value.

During the valuation process, it is necessary to verify ownership, de-identification, and compliance risks, and to quantitatively validate metrics such as data completeness and annotation quality. Since the value of a dataset is highly dependent on its application scenario, valuation methods should be selected appropriately, taking full account of the time-decay characteristics of the data. At the same time, the report should clearly state the valuation assumptions and usage restrictions, and fully disclose the scope of applicability and limitations of the valuation conclusions.

The China Valuation Forum (2026) brings together experts and scholars from finance and economics universities nationwide, leading valuation institutions, and industry associations to bridge the gap between theoretical research, industrial practice, and talent development. Centered on key issues regarding the transformation of the asset valuation industry during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the forum will produce a wealth of academic outcomes.
