School of Economics Holds Symposium for the 42nd Teachers’ Day On the afternoon of September 9, the School of Economics held a grand symposium in Conference Room 815 to celebrate the 42nd Teachers’ Day. Members of the school’s leadership team, newly recruited young faculty members, and representatives of faculty who achieved outstanding performance in the previous year gathered to engage in in-depth discussions on key topics such as teaching reform, research innovation, talent development, and the professional development of new faculty members. The symposium was chaired by Huang Wende, Secretary of the School’s Party Committee.

Wang Shoukun, the School’s administrative director, first extended congratulations to faculty members who received honors such as the 2026 “Zhongzhi Undergraduate Teaching Dedication Award,” the 14th Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics Model Teacher for Professional Ethics, and the Ministry of Education’s Fifth Batch of “National Model Party Branches for Party Building in Higher Education Institutions in the New Era.” He also expressed gratitude to all faculty members for their diligent efforts and outstanding contributions to the School’s development throughout the year. He encouraged all faculty members to maintain a spirit of continuous progress, unite their efforts, and work hand in hand to help the college achieve leapfrog development and create new achievements. Subsequently, he reported on the progress of the college’s current key tasks and, in light of the relevant arrangements from the university’s Sixth Plenary Session of the Sixth Party Congress and the Summer Work Conference, set forth clear requirements for follow-up work. He emphasized that the comprehensive reform of grassroots organizations is a key task for the university this year, as it relates to the optimization of the School’s organizational structure, the coordinated allocation of resources, and its long-term development. This requires all faculty and staff to unify their thinking, build consensus, and actively participate. He hoped that all faculty and staff would elevate their political awareness, keep pace with the university’s reform efforts, fulfill their responsibilities in their respective positions, work together to overcome development challenges, and propel the School’s work to new heights.

On behalf of the School, Secretary Huang Wende extended festive greetings to all faculty members and warmly welcomed the newly recruited young faculty members to the School of Economics. He encouraged the new faculty members to familiarize themselves with the School as soon as possible, humbly seek guidance from senior faculty, and accelerate their growth and actively contribute in the areas of teaching, research, and community service. At the same time, he conveyed the spirit of the speech delivered by Liu Yaobin, Secretary of the University Party Committee, at the university’s celebration of the 42nd Teachers’ Day and the opening ceremony for the training program for newly hired faculty and staff. He urged all faculty members to uphold the fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education, strictly adhere to the ethical standards of the teaching profession, and devote themselves wholeheartedly to teaching and nurturing students; to proactively adapt to the demands of reform, actively participate in the comprehensive reform of grassroots organizations, enthusiastically offer suggestions and ideas, take on responsibilities, and work diligently to jointly foster a positive atmosphere of unity, pragmatism, and collaborative development. During the discussion session, senior faculty members Zhou Yingheng, Zou Chunfa, Zhang Liguo, Li Guomin, and Huang Heping drew upon their many years of teaching and research experience to passionately share their insights and valuable expertise. Addressing common concerns among new faculty—such as initiating research projects, delivering effective classroom instruction, planning career development, and quickly integrating into the team— the senior faculty members offered targeted recommendations aligned with the college’s development and tailored to the growth of young faculty, providing strong guidance and solid support to help new faculty members build a solid professional foundation and successfully navigate their paths in teaching and research. The faculty members also shared practical methods and insights on their professional growth regarding research breakthroughs, improving classroom teaching quality, implementing community service initiatives, and guiding students in academic competitions.

The symposium took place in a warm, harmonious, pragmatic, and efficient atmosphere. Participating faculty members actively exchanged views and offered suggestions based on their respective roles, jointly discussing the college’s long-term development plans. Everyone expressed that they had gained a great deal from the symposium and deeply felt the college’s high regard and heartfelt care for the growth of the faculty, particularly the cultivation of young faculty members. Moving forward, they pledged to remain true to their original mission of educating students, clarify their development directions, delve deeply into teaching and research, act with dedication and pragmatism, take proactive responsibility, and unite their efforts to contribute to the college’s high-quality development.
